Standards for Excellence

The Standards for Excellence Institute® is a national initiative established to promote the highest standards of ethics, effectiveness, and accountability in nonprofit governance, management and operations, and to help all nonprofit organizations meet these high benchmarks. The program is a system of nonprofit sector self-regulation and replicated by state, regional and national associations and support organizations.


The centerpiece of the Institute’s program is the published Standards for Excellence®: An Ethics and Accountability Code for the Nonprofit Sector. It identifies 6 major areas of nonprofit governance and management which contain 27 different topic areas. Each topic area includes specific benchmarks and measures that provide a structured approach to building capacity, accountability and sustainability in an organization.


We are an approved licensed consultant under the program to assist nonprofit organizations achieve success within each of the Institute’s identified areas of governance and management.
